Scott Valcourt has been a
staff
member at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) since 1993, with the first
twelve years as a staff member in the University of New Hampshire
InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL).
Most recently, Mr. Valcourt was the Managing Director of the UNH-IOL from
2000-2004 and as the Research Project Manager of the UNH Computer Science Department from 2005-2007. Mr. Valcourt's current position in the Information Technology Department is focused on the development and deployment of new technologies and technology solutions for UNH, the University System of New Hampshire and for New Hampshire and New England. His position brings him in contact with technology companies in New Hampshire and around the world, bringing research projects to the Computer Science Department that benefit graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of Computer Science and Information Technology areas, as well as the corporate partners involved in the projects.
Mr. Valcourt earned a B.A. in Computer Science with Mathematics Emphasis, cum laude, from
Saint Anselm College in 1992,
a M.S. in Computer Science
from the University of New Hampshire in 1999, and is a Ph.D. candidate in
Engineering Systems Design at the
University of New Hampshire. He is a member of ACM, Delta Epsilon Sigma,
IEEE Standards Association, Computer Science Teachers Association and the IEEE Computer Society. In 2002, he was
inducted into the DSL Forum's Circle of Excellence for outstanding contributions
to the development of DSL technology worldwide and was elevated to Senior Member of the IEEE in 2007. (Curriculum Vitae.)
Office Hours
Typically Mr. Valcourt is available M-F 8am-5pm. Students may arrange
specific appointments to
meet at times within and outside those office hours by sending e-mail to
sav@unh.edu. Mr. Valcourt's office is
5 Hamilton Smith Hall.
Research Program
Mr. Valcourt's research interests
include computer communications networks, software engineering, computer and
network security, computer science education, the design and development of software, systems and their interactions with other systems, both human and technological, as well as middleware.
